Health Certificate from a USDA Accredited Veterinarian

Your pet must have a Health Certificate from a USDA accredited veterinarian. The local USDA APHIS Veterinary Services must endorse and sign your pet’s Health Certificate. Your pet’s health certificate is valid for 10 days. Your pet’s health certificate must be dated within 14 days from arrival in Hong Kong. Get the right certificate for your pet:

Microchip Identification

Your pets must have a microchip implant before arriving in Hong Kong. The microchip’s number must be the same on the Health Certificate.

Import Permit

Your pet will need an import permit from Hong Kong’s Agriculture, Fisheries, and Conservation Department. If you plan well in advance for mailing times and health requirements, getting the permit shouldn’t be an issue. But keep in mind the import permit is only valid for six months, and pets must travel before the permit expires.

Residence Certificate

Your pet must have a residence certificate that states that your pet has had a continuous residence for at least 180 days before export. And the certificate must state whether your pet’s place of residence has not had any reported cases of rabies from any species for at least 180 days before export.

Transporting Your Pet

You need to notify the Duty Officer of the Import & Export Section at least 24 hours before your pet’s anticipated arrival. Hong Kong also requires that your pet travel as manifested cargo and have an Airline Certificate (Captain’s Affidavit).

There are currently no additional Hong Kong government COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, requirements, or statements needed for dogs, but All Paws Express will carefully update you if any of this information changes.
